In addition to automatically tracking all good parts production, the TSS can track scrap counts. A screen is provided for the operator to enter scrap pieces, which will then be tracked per shift and day. The scrap will also be tracked by job and part, so that scrap can be analyzed by part number.
Scrap can be entered by the operator in real-time when it is created. Or, for applications where scrap is measured or weighed after-the-fact, it can be entered periodically or at the end of each shift.
Scrap counts are also used in the monitor to calculate quality efficiency, a measure of how many good parts are produced in comparison to bad ones. This metric is a component of Overall Equipment Effectiveness as well.
