IMPAX TSS Screen: Process efficiencies

Process efficiencies and OEE

The first step to improving machine efficiency is to track it. Time Saver monitoring systems do this and more, displaying several measures of machine efficiency in easy-to-read format.

The TSS tracks efficiencies using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). This is a measure composed of machine availability, performance, and quality. Availability is a measure of how much time has been spent in uptime vs. downtime. Performance measures how many parts have been produced compared to how many were expected for a given shift or day. Quality tracks good parts made vs. scrap parts. The final result, OEE, is the product of these. When OEE is high, all is well. If it falls too low, an operator can examine the other efficiencies to discover the problem.

Other measures such as instant running efficiencies, RPM percentage, and feeding efficiency are tracked as well, to indicate how smoothly the machine is operating.
